Quick Start

This walkthrough takes you from a fresh install to a sent campaign. It assumes PrimoCRM Free is installed and active.

Go to PrimoCRM then Contacts then Add Contact. Enter at least an email address; first name and last name make your emails feel personal. Save.

Already have a list somewhere else? Import it instead of typing. See Importing Contacts.

Open Lists and Tags and create a list, for example Newsletter. Then open a contact and add them to that list. Lists are how you choose who a campaign goes to. The difference between lists and tags is explained in Lists and Tags.

Go to Settings then Sending and choose how email leaves your site:

  • The built-in WordPress mailer (fine for testing and low volume).
  • An SMTP server (recommended for real sending).
  • A dedicated email service provider (Pro).

Send yourself a test to confirm delivery. Deliverability tips are in Sending and Deliverability.

  1. Go to Campaigns then Create Campaign.
  2. Choose your Newsletter list as the audience. PrimoCRM shows the resolved recipient count and automatically excludes unsubscribed, bounced, and complained contacts.
  3. Write a subject line. Personalize it with a smart code such as {{contact.first_name}}.
  4. Design the email, or start from a saved template.
  5. Send a test to yourself and check it in a real inbox.
  6. Click Send, or schedule it for later.

Personalization tokens are listed in Personalization and Smart Codes.

After sending, open the campaign Report to track opens, clicks, and unsubscribes. See Reports.
